Cascadia at Aviation Day!

On Saturday, May 19, Cascadia Emergency Management joined the Historic Flight Foundation to support their events for Aviation Day, which coincided with Armed Forces Day. We provided logistical/communications support, and secondary first aid services.

The day started with a 5k/10k run which drew a wide range of serious athletes, families exercising together, and those who just wanted an excuse to get out and run past some classic aircraft arranged along the course at Paine Field.

After the run, there was time for everyone to check out the amazingly well-restored planes and sample the offerings of the many food trucks while waiting for the main event – an air show!

At the designated time, those who serve/have served in the Armed Forces were honored with a presentation of the flag by the Navy Sea Cadets Color Guard, while members of the Girl Scouts sang the National Anthem. Then, the pilots took to the air, delighting the audience with the performance of their aircraft, and recalling a bygone era of bravery, innovation, and service. Take a look at the photo gallery below for some of the highlights of the day.

After a long day, the team was tired, but glad to have been a part of this successful event. And best of all, the day concluded with no incidents! We thank the organizers and partners of the Historic Flight Foundation for including us, and look forward to next year!
